Updated: Oct 26, 2018

The Green Light Movement is an organisation within the St Francis Social Services that gives new drivers an opportunity to learn with a mentor.

One of the mentors in the Green Light Movement

The Greenlight Movement supports young people to break the cycle of disadvantage people in the community by facilitating a mentor relationship with access to a vehicle to assist young people to achieve their provisional driving licence. The organisation has volunteers that kindly mentor people in the community whilst teaching them how to drive.

Teaching them, communication skills, making people dedicated to a certain thing in there life, motivated to get a job with their licence and make something of themselves and break the cycle of unemployment and crime. For each individual young person who completes the GLM program, the skills they learn and the benefits that come with them are life-long. Holding a licence means a young person has a greater number of employment opportunities. The organization's purpose is to allow each and every person a future and a go at life, as some people are not as fortunate as others, the green light movement provides the future for those in the program.

The Green light movement gives individuals the opportunity to learn how to drive if they feel as if they can't afford lessons or don't have a guiding mentor to help them while they drive. The program helps give confidence to these young people while also creating a support network.
